November 2026 Program

Home / November 2026 Program

This November, as we honor our nation’s veterans, PHNC is privileged to welcome Susan Bradford McLean, a former American Red Cross “Donut Dolly” who served in Vietnam in 1969.  While she didn’t carry a weapon, Susan served on the front lines in a different but equally meaningful way – lifting the spirits of young American soldiers with games, conversation, laughter, and genuine compassion.  Her mission was simple but powerful: to remind them that someone back home cared.

Susan’s presentation offers a deeply personal look at one of the Vietnam War’s most unique and inspiring service roles.  Filled with touching stories, moments of humor, and firsthand experiences, her program provides a rare glimpse into the courage, resilience, and humanity that existed beyond the battlefield.  Whether you lived through the Vietnam era or simply want to understand this important chapter of American history, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for the women known as the “Donut Dollies” and the veterans whose lives they touched.

This program is sure to be one of the highlights of our Veterans Day celebration, and you won’t want to miss it!
